Careers at AGP Construction

We hire the trades most contractors sub out

Painters, drywall finishers, framers and roofers work for AGP directly, not for whichever sub won the bid that month. That is the whole reason the work stays steady.

Why AGP

The work is ours, so it doesn't disappear.

Most general contractors bid a job, win it, then hand the paint, drywall, framing, roofing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing to whoever is cheapest that week. Crews get picked up for a job and dropped when it closes. That's normal in this trade and it's why good people leave it.

AGP self-performs all seven of those trades. When one project closes, the next one is already ours, and the crew moves to it. Commercial work across Oakland, Macomb, Wayne and Washtenaw counties, out of one shop in Madison Heights, so nobody is driving two hours to a jobsite.

We are not big. Roughly 15 years in commercial and 200 projects means you will know the person who signs off on your work, and they will know your name. If that sounds worse than a corporate org chart to you, we are probably not the fit.

Who We Hire

Trades we keep busy.

Commercial Painters

Spray and roll, occupied buildings, tenant spaces and industrial coatings. Prep matters here more than speed, and we schedule like it does.

Drywall Hangers & Finishers

Metal stud framing, hang and finish, fire-rated assemblies, and the patch work that keeps a building running between projects.

Carpenters & Framers

Light gauge steel and wood framing, layout, doors and hardware, and interior build-out work on commercial fit-outs.

Commercial Roofers

Single ply TPO and EPDM, flashing and detail work, repairs and tear-offs. Leak calls too, which is where the steady hours come from.

Superintendents & Project Managers

Run a commercial job start to finish: schedule, subs, inspections, the punch list and a closeout package nobody has to chase.

Estimators

Take-offs and line-item bids on commercial build-outs and maintenance scopes, close enough that the number holds through the job.

Apprentices & Laborers

No experience required, but show up on time and we will teach you a trade instead of leaving you on cleanup for two years.

Subcontractor Crews

We self-perform seven trades, so the list is short: fire protection, glass, elevator and specialty flooring. Send your capabilities and coverage area and we'll keep you on it.

What We Ask

Short list, no games.

  • Reliable transportation to jobsites across Metro Detroit.
  • Your own hand tools for your trade. We supply the rest.
  • Any license or certification your trade requires, current.
  • You show up when you said you would, and you call when you cannot.

Pay depends on trade and experience and we will talk about it on the first call, not after three rounds of interviews. If you are licensed and looking, apply below and someone will get back to you.

Apply

Send it over. We read every one.

A resume helps but it is not required. If you have worked commercial jobs, tell us which ones and who ran them. That tells us more than a formatted PDF.
