Working in Ann Arbor
A different economy, an hour west
Ann Arbor's commercial market doesn't look like the rest of our territory. The university and the hospital system anchor it, which fills the office stock with research groups, med-tech and software companies, professional practices and startups: tenants whose build-outs lean toward conference density, collaborative floor plans, acoustic separation and IT infrastructure rather than corner offices. The research and light-industrial parks on the south and east sides carry the flex and office work; downtown along Main, Liberty and State it's retail and service storefronts in dense, older buildings.
Let's be straight about geography, since this is a page about a city we don't live in: Ann Arbor is about forty-five minutes from our Madison Heights shop, and it's a different county with its own building department. For a build-out, a renovation, or a maintenance program with real scope, that's a non-issue: crews mobilize and stay. For a single small ticket, an Ann Arbor contractor will beat us on response time, and we'll say so rather than take the job and disappoint you on it.
